Play

Messing around with my shadow and my camera.

It has been a struggle in the studio, lately.  I am not sure why.   Biorhythms, maybe.  Or does it mean I need a little time off?  Maybe all work and no play has dried up my creative well.   I guess I need more play.  So, my dear blog friends, I am going to take one day to play this week, and I want you to tell me what you do, for play.  To unwind, to relax, to enliven and to replenish.  Leave your comments, and then I will tell you what I decide to do, for my play.  (Since surfing waves in Hawaii seems a little unattainable right now.)   I know, I could go surfing here in California, on the coast, but even that seems just a little too far and maybe (with M gone) a little too lonely.  Although I do have an untried wetsuit.  (okay, you SEE why Hawaii waves sound better?  No wetsuit, for starters.)   I shall think of something.

Enjoy your play, my friends.

Great portrait of the Artist!

If you could play in your studio, what would you do?

I like to walk in the mountains and just lately I've taken to gardening ..... but that never lasts. To play and replenish is most important. Enjoy!

I played with inexpensive paints and created something to match my couch. It was great fun, and no pressure to make something serious.
Hm, maybe next time I'll match a curtain...

Ah there are so many wonderful ways to play ... hike in the park ... let yourself loose with free form ... stop thinking about the need to produce and let it flow ... read a good book ... go to the JT music festival and enjoy ... visit your sister ... go to the spa for a night and enjoy a massage and the hot tubs and whatever else is there !

I think the playful shadow on your wall is an excellent start!!! How about a bottle of bubbles? They can be quite mesmerizing and heart lifting...then again maybe not sticky enough? FINGER PAINTS!!! or even better pudding and jam painting...sticky, creative, colorful, tasty, completely silly and easy to clean up in the sink when your done...what to do with the paintings when you're done? (after licking your fingers) throw them away...they were just for play anyway...no need to save them...it is about process, bringing in your child-self. Contact me if you want some more ideas...I'm a kaizen-muse creativity coach, who just happened by your blog through Robyn's...go figure! anyway, what ever you do...dive in with your whole heart and an intention of joy!
